Before we Judge

For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you. Matthew 7:2“Why do you look at the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ and behold, the log is in your own eye? “You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye. Matthew 7:3-5

This is some food for thought...  We judge people several times, almost everyday. How can we judge others when we ourselves are sinners? Preaching the word of our Lord is every Christian's duty. But before we start preaching, we should be sure we practice what we preach. Dictating the rule book is easy task. It is something any lay man could do. Making people believe why it is absolutely necessary to follow the rules is the work of a true preacher. Simply judging people is a dangerous thing, the Bible warns us to be careful before we judge others. It does not mean that we should not judge people. We have to tell people if we know that what they are doing is a sin. However, we cannot judge them if we ourselves indulge in the sin. It would indeed be foolish if I tell my friend not to steal and the next day I am caught cheating in an exam!
